Why do uncoated stainless steel cable ties cause corrosion on aluminium profiles and how can this be prevented? ➕
When uncoated stainless steel comes into direct contact with less noble metals such as galvanised steel and moisture is present, a galvanic cell is formed. This results in what is known as contact corrosion, in which the less noble metal is damaged. There are two effective ways to prevent this:
Use coated stainless steel cable ties: The polyester coating acts as a reliable electrical insulator between the two metals.
Use special metal edge clips: For tool-free mounting directly on profile and sheet metal edges, we recommend combining them with our multidirectional edge clips.
Are coated stainless steel cable ties permanently UV-resistant? ➕
While the stainless steel core is completely unaffected by UV radiation, the applied polyester coating can degrade or become brittle over the years when exposed to permanent, intense sunlight in unprotected outdoor areas. The coating is therefore designed primarily for applications where mechanical protection (preventing the tie from cutting in) and the prevention of contact corrosion are the main priorities. For permanent outdoor installations under direct, intense sunlight where no insulation is required, uncoated stainless steel cable ties are the more durable choice.
Which stainless steel are the cable ties made of? ➕
Stainless steel cable ties are manufactured from corrosion-resistant, rustproof industrial stainless steel. In terms of its properties and durability, this generally corresponds to the proven stainless steel type 304 (V2A / material number 1.4301). It therefore offers the optimum balance of maximum mechanical load capacity, toughness and cost-effectiveness for almost all standard applications in industry, trade and vehicle construction.

How does the ball lock closure work on metal cable ties? ➕
The ball lock is a self-locking mechanism. A small, freely moving stainless steel ball sits inside the locking head. When the tie band is inserted, it slides easily through the head. As soon as tensile force is applied in the opposite direction, the ball wedges itself in the lock housing and blocks the band so that it cannot slip. This allows extremely fast installation without any additional tools for locking.
