PVC-insulated cable lugs - for fast connections

In electrical engineering, cable lugs are used to make contacts between cables or wires.

Cable lugs simplify a connection that would otherwise have to be made by soldering. There are three types of cable lugs: the tubular cable lug, the compression cable lug and the crimp cable lug.

Compression cable lugs are mainly used in the area of supply network operators, while crimp cable lugs are mainly found in switch cabinet construction or in vehicles. Different crimping tools are required for both types. The cable lug can be crimped in any position. Pressing the cable lugs changes their shape.

Up to a conductor cross-section of 6 mm, PVC-insulated cable lugs are mostly used. The individual cross-sectional areas are identified by color. For example, PVC-insulated cable lugs are available in red, blue or yellow. Each color stands for a specific conductor cross-section. PVC-insulated cable lugs also differ according to the shape of their connecting pieces. There are round and flat pin, fork and ring cable lugs. Which shape is used depends on the material of the cables and the intended use.
